On Wednesday, April 22, around 1 p.m., Huntsville police officers responded to Memorial Parkway for an infant who was not breathing.
Police said life-saving measures were performed, and the 4-month-old child was taken to the hospital. The infant was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
A preliminary investigation found the suspect, Mickele Kaipolai Ah-Nee, 34, of Huntsville, was with the infant when they stopped breathing, according to police.
HPD’s Major Crimes Unit began an investigation and requested an autopsy be performed. Police said the autopsy provided evidence the infant died from foul play.
Investigators interviewed Ah-Nee and later arrested him on a charge of homicide-murder-domestic violence, police said.
Dr. Tyler Berryhill, the Madison County Coroner, says the cause of death for the infant was the result of complications of traumatic internal injuries.
A sibling of the child’s mother told WAFF 48 the mother, Molly Mckelvey, died the following morning after taking her own life.

Kristian Mckelvey is Molly Mckelvey’s older brother. He and his fiancée Madison said there are not many words to describe this tragedy.
“She was the happiest little baby I’d ever seen too you know. I won’t be able to ever see her grow old. Molly was — she was a really awesome little sister,” Kristian Mckelvey said.
“I mean there really are no words for having to just first finding out the baby is dead and then the mother commit suicide,” Madison said.
“It’s like a movie. You hear about this stuff on the news a lot and you just never think it’s going to happen to you, you know?” Kristian Mckelvey said.
The family said they want more answers because neither of them deserved this ending.
“She was just really full of love and full of life. When you’re around her you just feel more alive you know. To me there’s just no one like her. And Lotus just always seemed like a very happy baby,” Madison said.
